Winners Announced in the
2007 Utah Innovation Awards


SALT LAKE CITY—Seven technology innovations and the Utah companies that created them were announced as winners in the fifth annual Utah Innovation Awards program, presented by Stoel Rives LLP and the Utah Technology Council. This program is sponsored by Connect magazine and Hewlett-Packard. Winners were announced during a special Awards Luncheon today at the Marriott City Center.
A committee of nearly 60 experts from private industry, government and higher education selected the award winners, one in each of the program’s seven categories. Votes were tallied by the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. The table below identifies the winners in each category:

“This years finalists and winners are a great representation of the variety of innovation taking place throughout the state among companies of all sizes from small start-ups to well established, large corporations,” said Scott Young, Stoel Rives attorney and 2007 Utah Innovation Awards chairman. The program received nearly 100 nominations. Two finalists and a winner were selected in each category.
“The Utah Innovation Awards program serves as a tremendous venue and opportunity for Utah’s entrepreneurs to showcase their innovations and receive statewide recognition,” said Richard Nelson, Utah Technology Council President and CEO. “UTC is proud to be part of that effort and support the incredible innovation that is driving Utah’s technology industry.”
More than 300 individuals attended the Awards Luncheon at the Marriott City Center. Governor Jon Huntsman  Jr. provided welcoming remarks and entrepreneur Larry D. Rigby, founder of several companies including ZARS Pharma, Inc. delivered a keynote address titled “The Art of Innovation: Past, Present and Future.”
